Galle is a city on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka that is known for Galle Fort. It is located 146 kilometres away from the capital of Sri Lanka, Colombo. At the same time, it is the capital of the southern province. This is a fortified old city founded by Portuguese colonists in the 16th century. Notable buildings include the 18th-century Dutch Reformed Church. Galle Lighthouse stands on the fort's southeast tip. You can find the picturesque streets of Galle lined with plenty of Dutch monuments. And also, some of the island's most famous beaches are not too far from this beautiful city. This is one of the most popular destinations among tourists in Sri Lanka.
