Udawalawe National Park

Udawalawe, Udawalawe national park, Udawalawe

Udawalawe is located 180 km from Colombo in the south-central sector and situated just south of the Central Highlands of Sri Lanka. Udawalawe National Park is the sixth-largest animal sanctuary in Sri Lanka. Udawalawe National Park lies around the Udwalawe reservoir, which provides water for agriculture and hydropower generation and spreads over an area of 30,821. So in 1972, Udawalawe National Park was established with the objective of protecting the catchment area of Udawalawe reservoir.

Udawalawe is a dry monsoon forest with an annual rainfall of about 1520 mm, so mostly Udawalawe National Park is known as a whole-year open national park. Udawalawe National Park is home to herds of elephants, water buffalo, wild boar, spotted deer, sambur deer, jackal, samber, black-naped hare, mongooses, bandicoots, foxes, the endemic Toque Macaque, and Gray Langers. Sighting a leopard and other smaller cats like the fishing cat and the jungle cat would be a bonus.

Udawalawe National Park Jeep Safari: According to the details I mentioned above, Udawalawe National Park Jeep Safari is one of the most popular activities among tourists who visit Sri Lanka. There are two main time periods to go on a jeep safari, but travelers can also customize at their own leisure. As a well-experienced tour company in Sri Lanka, we recommend that our guests travel on an early morning jeep safari from 5.30 a.m. to 9.00 a.m. and on an afternoon jeep safari from 2.30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Because it would be a valuable opportunity to observe unique and amazing wild animals in their natural habitats.
