Around thirty-five kilometers northwest of Batticaloa town on the east coast of Sri Lanka lies Pasikuda, a coastal town with a spectacular, blue bay and soft, sandy beaches. The beauty of this town was greatly untouched until recently, as the Sri Lankan Civil War kept tourists and local visitors away from this area until the end of the war in 2009.

Pasikuda is renowned because of its extended shallow coastline, making it a great spot for sunbathing and shallow swimming. The mesmerizing, azure waters are hard to resist and, along with the pristine, white-golden sand of the beach, create an incredible sight. Much of the town was destroyed during the 2004 Asian tsunami, but since then, the area is fast becoming a tourist hots pot. Today, Pasikuda is home to many stylish andluxurious resorts and boutique hotels that offer guests breathtaking views and a tranquil atmosphere.

The area of Pasikuda is also a great location for divers with shipwrecks to explore in the vicinity. Pasikuda is also in close proximity to Batticaloa, where one can enjoy the Batticaloa lagoon and explore the Dutch Fort.
