Horton Plains

Horton Plains National Park is located 63 kilometers from Hatton and in the Central Highlands of the Central Province of Sri Lanka. Even though it is a little bit off from the other tour sites, visiting the park makes the drive worthwhile. Horton Plains was designated a national park in 1988, and it was also declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2010.

Since it is largely flat land, hiking in the park is somewhat easy. The trail is about 9.5 kilometers long, and you will come across the park's two main attractions. In the middle of the trail, you will find the world's end and Baker's fall. World's End is a clifftop that stretches out far beyond the surrounding plains, and on a clear day, you can even see the shore. As a licenced travel agency for many years, we recommend that you go with a guide to ensure you don't miss any details about the park.

Yala National Park

Ruhunu National Park, or as we all know it, Yala National Park, is located in the south-eastern region of Sri Lanka. It spreads over two provinces: Monaragala district in Uva province and Hambantota district in Southern province. Yala is the second-largest national park in Sri Lanka. In 1990, Yala was nominated as a wild sanctuary, and again in 1938, it was nominated as a national park in Sri Lanka. Yala National Park is in the main city, Tissamaharama. There are many other places to visit in Tissamaharama, but the most famous and most visited place is Yala National Park. This Yala national park consists of five main blocks. They are naming them by different names, like Ruhunu National Park and Kumana National Park. These two are open to the public, and the other three are not. However, you need at least 3–4 hours to cover these two areas. You can especially see leopards in these two blocks.

In here, not like in the other parks, you have to take a safari jeep for the ride. The national park provides the jeeps with soft-tops, which gives them the opportunity to view the wild life. There is best timing for the jeep safaris; normally, morning safaris start around 5.30 am and will continue for 3–4 hours, and afternoon safaris start around 2.30 pm, the same as continuing for 3–4 hours. These timings are due to the habitat of the wild animals; mostly, they are going to the seen places in the early morning hours and afternoon hours for baths, eating, drinking water, etc. And also, there are full-day safaris. It means the ride will starts around 9 am and finishes afternoon 4 or 5 pm. In there, you will be provided with lunch in the forest, where safety is paramount, and some snacks in between. All the above safaris and facilities are provided by us, Tours for Sri Lanka.

Arugam Bay village itself is not very talkative among locals because it is just a single main road running parallel to the beach, dotted with guest houses, cafes, and shops, including Arugam Bay's trademark. But actually, Arugam Bay is a hidden gem located on the east coast of Sri Lanka. Because it's located 6 hours, 45 minutes (387.5 km) away from the capital of Sri Lanka and other tourist attractions. At present, it has been popular due to its own enjoyably eccentric charm. However, it has managed to retain its small-town charm while gaining popularity among travelers looking to explore some offbeat destinations in Sri Lanka. Especially Arugam Bay is known to be a surfers paradise because it is the best beach in Sri Lanka for surfing. As Sri Lanka is a tropical country, the weather throughout the year is almost alike. The most pleasant season to visit Arugam Bay is during the months of May to September, when the monsoons have descended.

Jaffna is situated around 400 kilometres away from the capital of Sri Lanka, Colombo, and it will take 7 hours and 45 minutes to reach Jaffna town from Colombo. This city is known as Little India in Sri Lanka because the city has a lot of influence from India; as we can see on the streets, their food and language are different from those in Central or South Sri Lanka. Most of the people in Jaffna are Tamil, and their religion is Hindu. But at present, they are throughout the country, so Sri Lanka's second main language is considered Tamil. Jaffna is mainly full of religious surroundings, so there are many Hindu temples, kovils, and Hindu god statues, just as in India. And Jaffna is highly connected with God, Rama, and Ravana. Mainly Indian tourists are visiting this place because it is considered a part of their country. It is a good off-beaten-path visit for 2 to 3 days, but remember you need some extra time. Minneriya National Park is a wild sanctuary located in the north-central province of Sri Lanka. Minneriya Forest was originally declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1938, and Minneriya Wildlife Sanctuary was designated a national park in 1997. In the other national parks in Sri Lanka, you can find a large number of Sri Lankan elephants gathering around grass fields. You can find large gatherings during the dry season to drink water from inside bodies of water. Normally, we recommend that you visit Minneriya National Park from May to October. That period is the normal sunny season in Sri Lanka. In rainy seasons, they won't come outside from the forest and cannot see during that period. There is an elephant corridor in between Minneriya National Park, Kaudulla Park, and Wasgamuwa Park, so elephants roam among these three national parks from time to time. Other than elephants, there are two endemic monkeys in Sri Lanka, large herbivorous mammals such as the Sri Lankan samba deer and Sri Lankan axis deer, rare and endangered species such as the Sri Lankan leopard and Sri Lankan sloth bear, the grey slender Loris, and many kinds of birds.
